Expedition 2022

In April 2022, the Swedish Ship Götheborg will head out on an East Asian expedition. In the same vein as in our history, the mission is to create new business opportunities for Swedish companies.

For our next expedition, we are putting Swedish innovations for a better world on display. We will create a commitment to the greatest challenge of our times – the adaptation to a sustainable future.

An expedition with a mission

International trade has positive effects on all three dimensions of sustainability; economic, social, and environmental. The expedition’s aim is to bring forward Swedish innovations as an important and necessary part of the solution towards our vision of creating a sustainable future. East Asia comprises a number of important and growing markets.

The expedition will open new trade opportunities for Swedish companies in this part of the world. Route

The expedition to East Asia will last for more than seven months and is dependent on mother nature and natural forces such as wind and currents. The planning and work to confirm and finalize the stopovers and ports Götheborg will dock at is an ongoing work. We will share the news with all of you underway!

We have decided the route and it differs from the one that was originally carried out in the 18th century. After leaving Sweden in April 2022, the Swedish Ship Götheborg will sail around Denmark, across the North Sea and pass through the English Channel and past the Bay of Biscay. The intent is to make two stops before we enter the Mediterranean in May. We will dock at two more spots in the Mediterranean before we enter the Suez Canal, at the beginning of June. Then we head towards the Red Sea and Djibouti. After crossing the Indian Ocean, the ship will arrive in India in late July. In India, our East Asia Tour begins and Götheborg with crew will now be heading towards the major markets Singapore, Hong Kong and finally China. Join our journey and open new possibilities along the route!
