Previous stopovers

In 2022, Götheborg departed from Gothenburg 8 June, and sailed in the Baltic Sea, and Northern and western Europe, before continuing to the Mediterranean. During winter 2022/2023 the ship stayed in Barcelona. In spring 2023 Götheborg of Sweden is sailing in Europe, and will arrive in Gothenburg the 2nd of June. During summer 2023, the ship will be open to visitors in Gothenburg.

Göteborg, 4 – 6 June, 2022 Departure weekend! The days before heading out on our great Asia Expedition 2022/2023, the ship was open to visitors in Gothenburg. She left with a bang the 8th of June and headed out on the very first sailing leg. More information
Helsingborg, 14 – 17 June, 2022 The Swedish city of Helsingborg was the first stopover on the great Asia Expedition. Götheborg of Sweden was moored at the City Quay, a prime location at the heart of Helsingborg! The first stopover was a great success with thousands of visitors on board. More information
Helsinki, 23 – 27 June, 2022 The second stopover was the Finnish capital Helsinki. Götheborg of Sweden was moored at Makasiini Quay, at the heart of the South Harbour right next to the Market Hall. The stop was a beautiful and sunny stopover during the Midsummer Weekend. Thank you everyone who came on board! More information
Stockholm 11 – 14 July, 2022 The third stopover was the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. Götheborg of Sweden was moored at Skeppsbrokajen 105 (just opposite Skeppsbro Bakery). The citizens of Stockholm got to wave good bye from all of Sweden, as Stockholm was the last Swedish city on the Asia Expedition. More information
Copenhagen 21 – 24 July, 2022 The forth stop on the great Asia Expedition was the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Götheborg of Sweden was moored at the waterfront area Nordre Toldbod, close to The Little Mermaid. We got a lovely greeting sailing in to Copenhagen with lots of people lining the shores. Oslo 28 – 31 July, 2022 The Norwegian capital Oslo, was the fifth stopover on the great Asia Expedition, and the last stop in the Nordic Countries. Götheborg of Sweden was moored at Vippetangen just past Akershus Fortress, and clearly visible from Aker Brygge/Tjuvholmen. More information
London 8 – 12 August, 2022 It had been fifteen years since the ship last visited London, in May 2007 on the way home from the first Asia expedition. Now it was time again for the ship to sail up the River Thames and greet the Londoners. We were moored at Thames Quay, South Dock in Canary Wharf. More information
Bremerhaven 17 – 21 August In Bremerhaven, the ship was the center of attention at Bremerhaven Maritime Days with over 350,000 visitors and 80 different ships, an event that attracts sailing enthusiasts and professional sailers from all over the world. Thank you to everyone who came on board! Lisbon 5 – 9 September, 2022 Lisbon was the eight stopover on the Asia Expedition and the first in Southern Europe. The ship was moored at the central location of Cais Rocha Conde de Óbidos. Thank you to everyone who came on board! More information
Malaga 15 – 20 September, 2022 In Malaga, this beautiful old port city, you could see us in the harbor. We were moored in Málaga Port, between the Playa la Malagueta and Parque de Malaga, and we were of course open to visitors during our stay. More information
Nice & Monaco 29 Sept. – 4 Oct Our eight spectacular days in Nice and Monaco, that included an amazing interest from the people in Nice (thank you!), great media coverage and the delivery of a life-sized elephant sculpture to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. More information
Malta 14 – 18 October, 2022 We spent five great days in Malta, moored at Valletta Cruise Port, with the beautiful backdrop of the historic city. Our gun salute at arrival was answered by the battery at Malta. A really impressive sight! More information
Barcelona 20/10-22 – 27/3 -23 We had our winter stopover in Barcelona, moored at Moll de Bosch i Alsina, at Rambla de Mar. We had many visitors from all over the world come visit us and we are very grateful for the months well spent in Barcelona. More information
Sète 23 – 27 March, 2023 Our first stopover in 2023 was beautiful Sète in the south of France. We were moored at Quay d'Alger, right at the heart of Sète. We were of course open to visitors during our stay. More information

Jersey, 27 April – 2 May 2023 We were moored in St Helier Marina during our Jersey stopover. We were open to visitors during our stay. For more information about arrival times, opening hours, and ticket sales see "more information". More information
Rotterdam, 11 – 14 May For our forth stopover we're again going to a city that we have never visited before, Rotterdam! You will find us moored at the the Holland Amerikakade in the Kop van Zuid neighborhood. We will of course be open to visitors during our stay. Come visit us! More information

Götheborg is arriving to Gothenburg

Tomorrow, 2 June at 15:00, we will arrive in Gothenburg to officially open the 400-year jubilee with gun salute. Come and welcome us home!! We would of course love to have some company on the water coming into Gothenburg, and welcome boats to join us! Already today, the 1st of June, you will be able to see us in the Gothenburg archipelago.

Meet the owner and a big heart behind Götheborg of Sweden, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship. It was a purchase decision that came from the heart, rather than from rational business thinking, says Stefan Björk, founder and owner of Greencarrier Group and Götheborg of Sweden.

Hamburg – an important portstop for Greencarrier

Hamburg was specifically chosen as a key stopover for Götheborg as Greencarrier (our owner) opened new offices in Hamburg in April. On Monday, we were very pleased to welcome especially invited customers, partners and friends of Greencarrier Group on board.
