The expedition to Asia is extended to 2023

The planned expedition to Asia is extended with a year, in response to the great interest in the expedition start-up in 2021. Arrival at the end destination in Asia will be in September 2023. The route is expanded primarily in Europe, with focus on Northern Europe.

The expedition to Asia is extended to 2023

” The stopover in Stockholm, in August 2021, drew great attention from both business and the public”, said Peter Alexandersson, CEO at SOIC Ship Management. “In response to that interest and the possibilities it presents, we have decided to extend the expedition and increase the number of harbours visited in Europe. The expedition is primarily expanded with stops in capitals and countries around the Baltic Sea.”

The new route will be carried out in two steps; the ship will sail in Europe during 2022, stay in the Mediterranean through winter and continue to Asia in spring 2023. The extended expedition makes it possible to call at more harbours along the way, particularly in Europe.

“ By extending the expedition we also take into account and manage the insecurities that still exist around the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly in Asia”, said Alexandersson.

The mission for the Asia expedition is to promote Swedish-Asian trade relations and use the ship as a platform for Swedish businesses and Swedish innovation. The focus is on displaying innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

The new route in short
Götheborg will depart from Gothenburg in May 2022, and arrive in Shanghai in September 2023. The original route will be extended, primarily with additional stops in Northern Europe. During winter 2022/2023 the ship will remain in the Mediterranean, and continue to Asia in spring 2023. The original route was planned for departure from Gothenburg in April 2022, and arrival in Shanghai seven months later, in October 2022.

New yards in the making

19 November 2021

The exciting task for this week included locating, taking down, debarking and preparing timber that will become six new yards on the ship! Heading out on our big expedition to Asia next year, we need to bring spare yards with us, and this week has been very busy at the sawmill outside of Laholm.
