How to make a new yard

The main yard on the ship Götheborg is 23 meters long and weighs 1.7 tonnes – and we're making a new one! This involves great craftmanship and many hours of hard work. Hear our carpenter Manne explain the work being done in our workshop in Gothenburg.

Sustainability is at the core of our expedition 2022/2023. Therefore, we have started a process of identifying what we can improve and what we can do to make sure we take responsible decisions and actions for a sustainable future.

New yards in the making

The exciting task for this week included locating, taking down, debarking and preparing timber that will become six new yards on the ship! Heading out on our big expedition to Asia next year, we need to bring spare yards with us, and this week has been very busy at the sawmill outside of Laholm.

The expedition to Asia is extended to 2023

The planned expedition to Asia is extended with a year, in response to the great interest in the expedition start-up in 2021. Arrival at the end destination in Asia, Shanghai, will be in September 2023. The route is expanded primarily in Europe, with focus on Northern Europe.

We're now open to visitors in Gothenburg

Come for a guided tour on board Götheborg! Starting Saturday October 2nd, we are open to visitors on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 – 15:00. You can buy your tickets online or on-site, in our shop. Please note that the ship can only be visited in the company of a guide.

Thank you Stockholm!

Now back in Gothenburg, we want to direct a big thank you to Stockholm – the city, our partners and guests, and everyone who came to visit us on board or from the quay. It was a week with fantastic events and great meetings, and we were overwhelmed by the warm and enthusiastic welcome from all our guests and the citizens of Stockholm.

Götheborg is arriving to Gothenburg tomorrow

Tomorrow, Sunday 12 September, at 2 pm, Götheborg is coming back to Gothenburg and Pir 4 on Eriksberg. It's been nearly a month since she left Gothenburg to sail to Stockholm and back.  

Leaving Stockholm tomorrow!

Tomorrow, Saturday, 4 September, at 2pm (14:00) the ship Götheborg will leave Stockholm. We want to thank Stockholm, all of you that have come to look at the ship from shore, and all our guests that have been on board for a wonderful ten days.

The ship Götheborg uses biofuels to reduce environmental and climate impact

When sailing to Stockholm, and back to Gothenburg, the ship Götheborg uses RME biodiesel, made from rapeseed oil, instead of marine diesel in two of its four fuel tanks. The initiative is part of a bigger sustainability commitment to minimise the ship’s environmental impact and promote solutions for a more sustainable world.

Götheborg has arrived in Stockholm

Yesterday afternoon the ship Götheborg made an impressive entrance to Stockholm. Despite cold and rainy weather, she received a very warm welcome from the people gathered at Skeppsbrokajen. The ship will stay in Stockholm until 4 September.
