Asia Expedition 2022/2023

Adiós Málaga!

Tuesday 20 September we sailed out of Málaga, after almost a full week in the harbor in the city center. The days here has been amazing with lots of interested journalists and visitors on board. Next stop is Nice, France!

Adiós Málaga!

The voyage from Lisbon to Málaga has been surrounded with some really good sailing, turquoise water, dolphins, flying fish and even a whale! Many in our crew were surprised at the great aquatic wildlife that they had been accompanied by. To not mention the beautiful spectacular views - sailing pass the straight of Gibraltar offered a magnificent sight.

Glad to be back in Spain

On Thursday the 15 September, we arrived at Málaga, greeting the city with a gun salute outside the wave breakers. It the first time we went to Málaga but not the first time we are in Spain. We have been to Cadiz before, a place where also the original ship went to exchange tar, wood and iron to silver coins to be used in China. We moored at Málaga Port where we were open to visitors almost every day of the stopover.

Events on board

When we arrived we had a welcome event for several key people in Málaga. See the pictures below! We gave forth wooden plate with carvings over the dates and times for the stop in Málaga.

Swedish School visit

Another highly appreciated event was that the Swedish School in Malaga visited the ship, with students from three years old and up. Did you know that this is the biggest Swedish school outside of Sweden? It was a beautiful day, with the crew on board being just as excited to greet the children on board as they were to see the ship. Before the visit, the children had learned about the ship, its history and the impact that the Swedish East India Company had on Swedish economy in the 18th century, so they were well prepared and had many questions. Thank you for coming!

Now we have set sail to Nice! Maybe we'll see you there?
