Asia Expedition 2022/2023

Thank you Bremerhaven Maritime Days

From 17-21 August, we visited Bremerhaven Maritime Days. Together with more than 80 other ships and more than 350,000 visitors we had fabulous days in Germany and wish to thank the Maritime Tage Bremerhaven organisation for inviting us!

In the morning on the 17th of August, the Götheborg arrived in Bremerhaven. First, the ship had to go through a lock, before entering through the extremely narrow bridge passage into the harbour. After that another tricky maneuver awaited in the tight space in the harbour and with ships all around. With only centimeters to spare, both the passage at the bridge and the turn in the harbour went smooth, and Götheborg arrived at her mooring place.

Just after arrival, the sky opened up in the biggest downpour. A few crew members took the chance for a quick shower in the rain out on the deck, before it eased off. The rest of the week was beautiful, sunny and warm.

As part of the Maritime Days, Götheborg was open to visitors every day, and on the busiest day we had 2,700 visitors passing through the ship in just that day. Thank you everyone who came on board!

Just as many people came to visit the Götheborg, our crew also took the chance to visit the other beautiful and interesting ships that participated in the festivities. Bremerhaven Maritime Days also featured a street food festival, and music was playing on three stages in the area. All in all: A lot to do and see, and a great meeting place for the sailing community as well as the many people who came to see the visiting ships!

Thank you Maritime Tage Bremerhaven 2022 for inviting us and we hope to see you again!

Meet the owner of Götheborg of Sweden

29 May 2023

Meet the owner and a big heart behind Götheborg of Sweden, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship. It was a purchase decision that came from the heart, rather than from rational business thinking, says Stefan Björk, founder and owner of Greencarrier Group and Götheborg of Sweden.

Hamburg – an important portstop for Greencarrier

24 May 2023

Hamburg was specifically chosen as a key stopover for Götheborg as Greencarrier (our owner) opened new offices in Hamburg in April. On Monday, we were very pleased to welcome especially invited customers, partners and friends of Greencarrier Group on board.
