Götheborg co-hosted event with Dagens Industri

On Wednesday, 8th June, Götheborg finally set sail for a two-year journey with Europe and Asia in sight. As final preparations were made, Götheborg and Dagens Industri co-hosted an event nearby where panelists from the world of trade, politics and international posts spoke about a world that looks different from when Götheborg last set sail some seventeen years ago.

As the world opens up, the ship Götheborg was finally able to set sail again, now on a mission to promote Swedish trade relations, and this was highlighted by a seminar to discuss what Sweden has to offer the global market, and to wave Götheborg farewell as she sailed.

More than 150 invited guests arrived to hear leading experts and industry professionals talk about new opportunities for Swedish businesses in trading places where Götheborg will land, and how to best promote Swedish businesses and all that they have to offer.

Panelists also spoke about how there is less focus on dominant markets that produce materials for the whole world. Sustainability and innovation are key on the global market now; something which Swedish companies have to offer. To highlight this, the event included an Impact Summit Pitch, featuring some of Sweden’s best and most innovative start-ups working with solutions around sea and climate change, and the blue economy.

As the event drew to a close, guests and participants were treated to the view of the harbour and a salute as Götheborg set sail.

“The Ship Götheborg was pleased to partner with DI for this event, and with other organisations that will be with us along the way. As we set sail it is good to have Swedish trade expertise and knowledgeable platforms with us to ensure that we make the most of this expedition.”
– Kristoffer Bennis, Expedition Director at Götheborg of Sweden
