Sail the Archipelago Tour

The third leg of the expedition, Helsinki to Stockholm, will be nine days of sailing! While the linear distance in itself may be limited, this is actually one of the more extensive legs. There will be plenty of open sea, or in other words a lot of sailing. We will follow the winds and set as many sails as possible, which is an experience in itself.

The Archipelago Tour
Thousands and thousands of islands within arm’s reach

The route between Helsinki and Stockholm, through one of the world’s largest archipelagos, is a popular one, and has been for centuries. While the contemporary version is mainly a pleasure cruise, the upcoming passage with Götheborg of Sweden is something else. Signing up as a deckhand, you will be thrown back in time to the 18th century and an exciting sailing adventure. Beautiful, spectacular and fabulous, sure, but also sea spray and working hard to catch the winds. We will sail through the Helsinki archipelago as well as the Stockholm one, both famous for their beauty. A tour around Åland is in the cards, too.

While the linear distance in itself may be limited, this is actually one of the more extensive legs on the European part of the Asia Expedition 2022/2023. There will be plenty of open sea, or in other words a lot of sailing. We will follow the winds and set as many sails as possible, which is an experience in itself. All deckhands will need to prove their skills climbing the rig, scrubbing the deck and mastering the art of keeping the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship fit.

All in all, this sailing leg might prove to be the experience of a lifetime for the deckhands on board. Could that be you?

Anyone can apply to sail on board Götheborg as a deckhand and experience the unique adventure and life on board a 18th century ship. As a deckhand you sail together with the professional crew, but are not required to have any sailing experience and will get training on board. If this is your dream, don't hesitate to apply to become a deckhand on one of the sailing legs.

Meet the owner of Götheborg of Sweden

29 May 2023

Meet the owner and a big heart behind Götheborg of Sweden, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship. It was a purchase decision that came from the heart, rather than from rational business thinking, says Stefan Björk, founder and owner of Greencarrier Group and Götheborg of Sweden.

Hamburg was specifically chosen as a key stopover for Götheborg as Greencarrier (our owner) opened new offices in Hamburg in April. On Monday, we were very pleased to welcome especially invited customers, partners and friends of Greencarrier Group on board.
