Gun salute kicked off the grand 400-year jubilee
The 2nd of June, at 15:00, Götheborg arrived to Gothenburg after a one-year sailing adventure to officially kick off the 400-year jubilee with gun salute. Thank you everyone who came to the quaysides and followed us in boats on the water! It was a lovely welcome!

Welcome on board!
Come on board and visit the ship! Learn about the history of the Swedish East India Company and the adventures of the original Götheborg that sailed three times to Asia. Hear modern tales of sailing an 18th century ship, feel the authentic atmosphere, and listen to everything from captivating stories to the tremendous art of shipbuilding.
Tour three decks
On board Götheborg you will visit the beautiful weather deck with the helm, capstan and ship’s bell. Sundeck offers great views of the ship and masts, and down on gun deck there are ten impressive cannons. Don’t miss the two pieces from the original ship, one piece by the historical cupboard with porcelain and chalk pipes on gun deck, and the other one recessed into the helm.
Come prepared with all your questions!
Open all summer at Eriksberg
After the Jubilee Festival the ship will return to its home berth at the pier on Eriksberg and will stay open to visitors during the summer. We will be open everyday 17 June – 20 August, 11:00–17:00 with guided tours every half hour (closed Midsummer Weekend). Ticket sales will open shortly. Stay tuned.
Good news! We will extend the period that we are open to visitors in Eriksberg, Gothenburg. All through September 2023, we will stay open for guided tours on weekends. Opening hours will be 11:00–16:00 and tours will leave once an hour. Welcome on board the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship!
At the end of August, Götheborg of Sweden will attend Sweden’s largest shipping event, Donsö Shipping Meet (DSM). It’s the first time that the ship will attend the event, and it is also the first time that Götheborg will moor at Donsö in the southern archipelago outside of Gothenburg.
