Unfortunately, persons with severe allergies cannot sail on board Götheborg of Sweden. We do, however, cater for gluten-free and lactose-free diets.

There are several reasons why we do not allow people with severe allergies to sail aboard Götheborg of Sweden. These include the limited storage space onboard and the risk that someone will have an allergic reaction while we are out to sea, far from land and medical care.

Yes, vegetarian (Lacto Ovo vegetarian) meals can be provided on Götheborg of Sweden.

Unfortunately, you cannot sail with Götheborg of Sweden if you have diabetes.

No, the dates for signing on and signing off applies to everyone on board and unfortunately we cannot take individual requests into account.

It is not possible to get on or off the ship while we are out sailing, and therefore only sailing part of a sailing leg is not possible.

Admission process

We strive for gender balance, ethnic and cultural diversity, but also a mix of sailing experience. The paying deckhands are assigned to the sail legs according to these criteria, but also according to personal suitability. If you have volunteered on the ship on weekdays, work weekends or put a lot of effort into your application, it will most likely affect your chances.

It is not possible to apply in pairs. Your applications will be processed separately. However, we recommend that you include the name of the person that you would like to sail with on your application. We will try to take your wishes into consideration as much as possible.

Admission notices are sent out on an ongoing basis and when they are sent varies between sailing legs. You will be contacted by email as soon as you have been accepted for a specific sailing leg.

No, everyone who fulfill our requirements will be on the waiting list and we do not have a que system. If someone from the sailing leg drops out, we will try to replace this person with a similar person.

The fact that you have not received any notification yet does not mean that you have not been accepted. Admission notices are sent out on an ongoing basis. When they are sent out varies between different sailing legs. If you have been accepted, you will receive your admission notice via email and the status of your application will change to "Accepted". If you have not been accepted, you will automatically end up on the list of reserves, you will be notified via email and the status of your application will change to "Waiting list".
