Since you are willing to stay with us for a longer time, we will teach you about the traditional materials and techniques used on board. We will work mainly on rig maintenance in the workshop ashore. But of course, many other ship related tasks will occur.
What does it mean to volunteer?
Unlike sailing as a deckhand, you don’t pay to volunteer, and the ship will remain in port. Our team of experienced sailors will strive to create a comfortable learning environment and give constructive feedback.
We offer:
- Lunch and coffee breaks
- Accommodation on board the ship
- Facilities to store and prepare food.
- A great group of people and a nice and welcoming atmosphere.
Expectations:
Flexibility, the work we will do involves all forms of deck and rig maintenance and may change as required. Maintenance can happen inside the ship, outside of the hull, in the rig, or in the workshop. You need to bring your own sheets, towels, comfy working shoes that sit tight to your foot and warm clothes to have underneath the working clothes.
And if you’d like, a snack to the coffee.
We will sign a volunteer contract with you, and you agree to be able to help during the period. In return you will gain a more intimate knowledge of the ships rig.
When you stay with us, our insurance covers those residing in Sweden, however, those not residing in Sweden will need to have their own insurance arrangement.
