Expo East Indiaman Götheborg 2.0
Götheborg of Sweden is open for visitors every day throughout the summer! For the first time, you are given the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the maintenance work on land when we open up the Ships Workshop! Also, visit our new pop-up store, explore a historic exhibition in our Ships Hall and get a guided tour on board the ship.
From Thursday, 2nd of July, we will be open for visitors daily between 11 AM and 4 PM until Sunday, 16th of August. To spread extra joy and showcase our operations at home, we are now launching the new program “Expo East Indiaman Götheborg 2.0”.
We have created a Pop-up store on our pier that is accessible for everyone. Those who buy an entrance will get a look into our Ships Workshop for the first time ever. Here you will really get to feel the smell of tar. To this, we add a historical exhibition in our Ships Hall where visitors can immerse themselves in the Swedish East India Company's travels to China in the 18th century. We also show a film from our Expedition to China 2005. There will also be the opportunity to touch and feel various items we exhibit over the summer. Last, but not least, all paying guests are offered a guided tour onboard the ship!
Safety and distance are important to us and we are following the guidelines from the authorities. Through careful planning, we have created a flow-through of our premises and ship so that visitors feel safe. There will also be a limited number of 40 people per hour to minimize crowds. Every hour we also offer guided tours in English.
Tickets are purchased through Ticketmaster or on-site at our pop-up store, subject to availability.

The East Indiaman will become part of a public experience center at Masthuggskajen.
Greencarrier and the City of Gothenburg have agreed on their ambition to create a long-term home for the East Indiaman at Masthuggskajen. The goal is for the ship to play a central role in a new historical experience center, planned for completion in 2031, and to help create a more vibrant waterfront promenade near Järntorget.
THE FRIENDS OF THE EAST INDIAMAN GÖTHEBORG INVITE YOU TO A WONDERFUL EVENING 19 MARS 18:00
During the evening we will be joined by Mats Berggren, who during the construction period represented the Swedish Maritime Administration as a determined and persistent inspector, and Marie-Louise Edholm, who took part in building the rigging, has sailed with the ship, and has been responsible for the maintenance of the rig. You will gain insight into traditional craftsmanship, material choices, and the many challenges involved in combining historical authenticity with modern safety and operational requirements. If you were involved during this period, perhaps you have a story of your own to share. We would love to hear it! About halfway through the lecture, coffee and pastries will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go directly toward the re-rigging of the ship. Registration is free of charge. Please register by emailing: vanner@gotheborg.se A warm welcome! The Friends of East Indiaman Götheborg Association
