We will have a booth at the Book fair at Svenska Mässan from Thursday to Sunday this week. On Friday and Saturday, we will have two of our authors with us signing their books. Stop by and say Hi!
Götheborg of Sweden is the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, an 18th century replica of the original Götheborg that sank outside of Gothenburg in 1745, and will create great attention wherever she goes. Are you interested in rowing with us in our ship’s boats? We will participate in the newly established, Göteborgsrodden/Gothenburg rowing, on August 31st during the Göteborg Culture Festival. The initiative comes from the West Coast Wooden Boat Association, and the idéa originally comes from Hasselörodden in Västervik.
Do you want to play a vital role in preserving Götheborg of Sweden? We are launching an association with a passion for the ship Götheborg and its history, aiming to preserve, protect, and develop our shared cultural heritage.
The weekend 27th to 29th of June is THE weekend! In the archipelago of Gothenburg, you will be able to see about 30 traditional sailing ships from Sweden, Norway and Denmark sailing together for a meet up in Eriksberg during the afternoon 29th of June.
On June 6, it's happening! There aren't many places on Hisingen to celebrate the Swedish National Day. This year, we're making a big deal out of it by celebrating National Day with both a salute and a flag ceremony. We're combining this with the inauguration of our newly renovated Ship’s Hall and the brand-new café! Why not enjoy a brewed coffee and an ice cream with us?
On the 25th of April, off the coast of France just after 4pm, a distress call was sent by the MRCC regarding a sailing vessel that had lost its rudder and was drifting. Being the closest ship to the sailing boat, Götheborg answered the call.
We are looking for guides to work in our team and show the ship to the public. Since our guides need to be able to speak both swwedish and english, the rest of this news will follow in Swedish.
