Thank you Stockholm! We had a tremendous few days with beautiful weather only punctuated by a few showers. When national TV and Radio turned up, journalists were not only invited onto the ship but also to climb the rigging, where expedition Director, Kristoffer Bennis, was interviewed about Götheborg’s voyage around Europe and Asia. Swedish Radio also stayed onboard as we cast off and set sail for Copenhagen, Denmark.
During our stay in Stockholm several ambassadors visited us onboard to talk about Swedish trade relations and new partnerships. We were happy to see so many other visitors who had made a special trip just to board and view the ship. We also got a beautiful 1800s wig (and makeup) from our friend Julia at Smink och Perukmakarn.
As we cast off rain started dissipating, and we sailed with the sound of the gun salut from the quay. Next stop, Copenhagen, Denmark!
Sailing leg 3 of the Asia Expedition 2022/2023 went from Helsinki to Stockholm. A sailing leg that included both sunny days and thunderstorms, swim stops, great sailing and some quiet times of playing music on deck. Before the stopover in Stockholm, Götheborg also went into Beckholmen dry dock in Stockholm for a few days – a job that was better done close to home with the right people and knowledge easily accessible.
The beautiful violin music in the video is composed and played by Hanna Lönnqvist.
