Traditional Sailing Ships Meetup in Eriksberg, Gothenburg
This weekend is the one to mark on your calendar! From June 27th to 29th, the archipelago of Gothenburg will host a spectacular gathering of about 30 traditional sailing ships from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The highlight will be on the afternoon of June 29th, when these magnificent ships meet up in Eriksberg.
Whether you're a boat enthusiast, a culture lover, or just looking for a fun outing, join us at Eriksberg on Saturday, June 29th. Over 30 traditional sailing ships will enter port at 14:00. An information tent will be set up opposite FeskarBritas Kro at Kvarnpiren. Visitors can board the ships and explore them up close.
From 13:00 to 16:00, the ferry Färjan 4 will shuttle between Eriksberg and Klippans Bruksbåtshamn, where additional activities will take place. The ferry ride is free of charge!
At Götheborg of Sweden, our shop and café will be open, and guided tours of the ship will be available as usual.
The Museum of Rope Making will demonstrate and explain the art of making ropes and lines.
The ship M/S Eriksberg will be open for lunch and drinks.
Starting this week, Family Day at Eriksberg offers a collaboration between Sommarteater, QH 11, and Götheborg of Sweden. Families can purchase combination tickets to enjoy a children's guided tour of the ship, watch a children's theatre performance, and play in Eriksbergshallen, which will be filled with bouncing castles. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster here (please note that the guided tour and theatre will be conducted in Swedish only).
Don't miss out on this unique and enjoyable weekend at Eriksberg!

The East Indiaman will become part of a public experience center at Masthuggskajen.
Greencarrier and the City of Gothenburg have agreed on their ambition to create a long-term home for the East Indiaman at Masthuggskajen. The goal is for the ship to play a central role in a new historical experience center, planned for completion in 2031, and to help create a more vibrant waterfront promenade near Järntorget.
THE FRIENDS OF THE EAST INDIAMAN GÖTHEBORG INVITE YOU TO A WONDERFUL EVENING 19 MARS 18:00
During the evening we will be joined by Mats Berggren, who during the construction period represented the Swedish Maritime Administration as a determined and persistent inspector, and Marie-Louise Edholm, who took part in building the rigging, has sailed with the ship, and has been responsible for the maintenance of the rig. You will gain insight into traditional craftsmanship, material choices, and the many challenges involved in combining historical authenticity with modern safety and operational requirements. If you were involved during this period, perhaps you have a story of your own to share. We would love to hear it! About halfway through the lecture, coffee and pastries will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go directly toward the re-rigging of the ship. Registration is free of charge. Please register by emailing: vanner@gotheborg.se A warm welcome! The Friends of East Indiaman Götheborg Association
