Bye Malta!

Thank you Malta for great days at the Valletta Cruise Port! It has been a lovely stay with the beautiful  backdrop of this historic city. 

Bye Malta!

We arrived to Malta on Friday 14 October. The arrival was a rustic one with very high waves due to strong winds outside the windbreakers. But as soon as we came inside the windbreakers the wind began to drop. We then fired gun salute, which was answered by the battery at Malta. A really impressive sight!

After arrival we could start open ship quite soon as we reached the harbor. In the evening, UD hosted a successful event at the ship. 

We are grateful for the warm reception from the Maltese people. There was a great interest in the ship and we are happy to have hosted so many of you. We want to thank everyone for the very warm welcome to Malta and the great interest in the ship. We had amazing days!

We left Malta 18 October, again with a gun salute and we are now headed for Barcelona, where we arrive 27 October. 27–30 October will be an official stopover, with the ship looking its absolute best and full crew on board. However, as we are staying in Barcelona until March 2023, we will also be open on weekends during this period. Hope to see you there!

Spring is truly here, and we’ve started getting ready to rig all three topmasts. We’re now looking for help with applying tar to the standing rigging. You’re welcome to join us for anything from a full week to just half a day. Unfortunately, we can’t offer accommodation, but we do provide lunch and have work clothes available. Please bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty to wear underneath, depending on the weather. If you’re interested, please send an email to volunteer@gotheborg.se

We are opening the gates to a 1700s-inspired Spring market on the pier of the East Indiaman! Come and enjoy a coffee on the cozy cannon deck with films rolling, and take the opportunity to check or diverse vendours at our market. We will have activities for both children and adults, both onboard the ship and on the pier. We welcome the whole family to join us onboard the East Indiaman Götheborg! Opening Hours: April 12-13 : 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Pier 4, Eriksberg, Gothenburg (Nearest bus stop: Sörhallstorget, or Eriksberg ferry stop if taking the ferry.)
