Götheborg of Sweden is the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, an 18th century replica of the original Götheborg that sank outside of Gothenburg in 1745, and will create great attention wherever she goes. In 2022 and 2023 the ship has sailed in Europe and it is now moored in its home port Gothenburg. Read our latest news here and scroll down to the bottom of this page to sign up for our newsletter.

We now offer a unique opportunity to sail for free on board the Götheborg during the first six weeks of this year’s sailing adventure. Sign on in Barcelona mid-March and sign off in the Brittany/Normandie area right at the end of April. This is a bucket list sailing adventure that you don’t want to miss!
The first stopover on the European Tour 2023 will be beautiful Sète in the south of France, also called known as “Venice of the Languedoc” for its network of canals. Between 23–27 March will be moored at Quai d'Alger at the heart of Sète. With the release of the first sailing destination of the European Tour 2023, the first and last stopover are now official.
Götheborg of Sweden will play an important role in the celebration of the city of Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary in June 2023. The ship, currently moored in Barcelona, will therefore head for Gothenburg at the end of March/beginning of April.
Good news! During the Christmas period, from Wednesday 7 December to Friday 6 January, we will be open to visitors almost every day, from 14:00-18:00. Ticket sales is now open! Come and visit the ship, meet the crew, learn about the history and craftmanship, and hear about life on board an 18th century ship.
Götheborg of Sweden is now moored in Barcelona for the winter stopover, and the plan has been to continue to Asia in March 2023. This plan has now been postponed, and the ship will instead sail in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe in 2023.
On October 27, Götheborg of Sweden arrived to Barcelona and moored at one of the top locations in the city harbour: Port Vell/Rambla de Mar. The first weekend in Barcelona was the official stopover, with full crew, and the ship fully rigged. We want to thank Barcelona for the very warm welcome!
Are you interested in Volunteering at Götheborg during her maintenance stop in Barcelona? We now offer a limited amount of volunteer positions for people of 18 years and older!
Thank you Malta for great days at the Valletta Cruise Port! It has been a lovely stay with the beautiful backdrop of this historic city. We want to thank everyone for the very warm welcome to Malta and the great interest in the ship. We had amazing days!
Today, at 12:00 am, we arrived to Malta. We are excited to get to be in a country with such a strong sea tradition. We are moored at the Valletta Cruise Port with the beautiful city of Valletta in the background. We are looking forward to our stop here with the backdrop of this historical place.
Our eight spectacular days in Nice and Monaco, that included an amazing interest from the people in Nice (thank you!), great media coverage and the delivery of a life-sized elephant sculpture to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. A very unusual sight on sundeck to highlight the important issue of ghost nets and the health of our oceans.
Instead of heading straight from Nice to Valletta as planned, the route has been changed and the ship is now also making a short stopover in Monaco. However, it is not just a regular stopover: It will include the spectacular delivery of a 2.4-meter-high elephant sculpture to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
